Ashley Loup received her BA and MA in American Studies from California State University, Fullerton. She received her PhD in the American Studies department on the Sports Studies track at the University of Iowa in 2025. She is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication and teaches in the Sport, Media, and Culture program.

Her research interests include Sports Studies, public memory and sporting commemoration, gender and sexuality, and digital mapping. ​

She likes going to the dog park with her shih tzu, Jellybean, watching women's sports, and reading romantic fantasy books.
